2 Fantasy Impact: Jerry Jeudy Traded to the Browns

2 min read

On Saturday, March 9th, wide receiver Jerry Jeudy was traded by the Denver Broncos to the Cleveland Browns for a fifth and sixth-round pick. That doesn’t seem like much, but it does support the production that Jeudy brought to the team this last season. Will this move be what Jerry Jeudy needs to break out of his slump? Let’s discuss the impact on fantasy football managers with this trade.

Denver Needs a Rookie Wide Receiver

The Broncos are the 12th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. That’s not a bad spot to be in considering the first wide receiver off the board will likely be at the 4th pick with the Arizona Cardinals choosing Marvin Harrison Jr. The wide receiver talent in the 2024 class is deep and there are teams ahead of the Broncos in need of other offensive positions. If your league drafts rookies after the NFL draft, save a pick for the rookie wide receiver who is sure to start for the Denver Broncos.

What about Courtland Sutton? I don’t anticipate that he’s going to make any more impact than he has been. The last two seasons have been pretty abysmal for Sutton. At 28 years old, there’s also no real reason to be hanging on to him on your dynasty rosters.

Jeudy Has the Chance to Shine

I hate to be a Jeudy truther, but in looking at the Browns depth chart, I can’t help it. This really could be Jerry Jeudy’s chance to shine. He will be the WR2 just behind Amari Cooper. The only thing hindering an improved season for Jeudy would be the quarterback situation in Cleveland.

Deshaun Watson has been a bust and unable to connect with any receiver other than Cooper. This could be a real opportunity for both Watson and Jeudy to show their worth. While slightly overpaying on the fully guaranteed contract of $13 Million, the Browns have faith in the 24-year-old, hoping he’ll eventually develop into the No. 1 receiver.
