Devy Minute: Malik Nabers

Devy Minute: Malik Nabers

WR Malik Nabers, JR, LSU

6'1, 195lbs

Draft Eligible: 2024

LSU, like Alabama and Ohio St, pumps out NFL WRs. Guys like Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham Jr, Justin Jefferson, and Ja'Marr Chase have been dominant in the NFL. Going into last season, Kayshon Boutte was going to be the next guy. Things changed a little bit.

Last season, Malik Nabers was supposed to compete to be the WR2 for LSU. However, he clearly outshined Kayshon Boutte, who was thought to be a preseason contender to be an All American and potential 1st round draft pick. After Boutte missed a substantial amount of the offseason and had a slow start to the season, Nabers became the Tigers' #1 option.

Finishing the season with 72 receptions, 1,017 yards, and 3 TDs, Nabers shot up devy rankings (mine included) and he is now attempting to be a 1st or 2nd round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. His ability to be effective in all levels makes him truly dynamic. He is fast and elusive enough to jet past defenders, while also strong and physical enough to run contested short routes. Nabers may not be Marvin Harrison Jr (nobody is on that level), but he has the tools and ability to be a very dependable NFL WR and a solid devy asset.

This offseason, Nabers was arrested for illegally carrying a firearm.  The charges were eventually dropped and it doesn't appear he will face any further discipline.  While not ideal, things do happen and as long as NFL teams are OK with it, he should be able to move on from it without any issues.
